will ring again tonight
with a voice I love to hear
Up from the valley,
it's a -rollin' loud and clear
With an old shotgun
and carbide light
beneath a yellow moon
I'm out tonight to see a fight
of a big ring -tailed raccoon
Oh, Rattler, I've been here to go
But Rattler's bumpin' to comin' up
You oughta see him go
Oh, Rattler, fifty years ago
But Rattler's puppies
are comin' after all to see him go
At fifteen after eleven o 'clock
he'd hit a red -hot trail
And from the noise you'd think
he had that old crew by the tail
Well, he run him up a white oak tree,
way out on a limb
And there by the light of the yellow moon,
I got a glimpse of him
Oh, Rattler, left this year to go
But Rattler's pumpin' to comin' up ,
you ought to see him go
Oh, Rattler, left this year to go
But Rattler's pumpin' to comin' up ,
you ought to see him go
When that old coon looked down at me,
it was a sight to see
He looked as big as a grizzly bird
perched up in that tree
Well, cut the tree down, come the coon,
and when he hit the ground
Rattler's pup and old
man coon
went around and round and round
They fought all night and all day long,
it was a fearful sight
No better coon, no better dog
was ever in a fight
Oh, Rattlers, half a year to go,
The Rattlers' pup is a -comin' up,
You oughta see him go!
