Night clouds
raise the rolling moon
All across and down the winter sky
Leave the wake of distant stars
Oh, shining down on you and I
But the fire kept a -blowin'
And it warmed the shadows
on the wall
January mornin'
Candles danced and trembled
As the music swirled them to and fro
We dreamed of times forgotten
Old songs and stories that we know
On and on we're re -travelin'
Leaving sorrows on the road behind,
January morning.
These are moments upon my friends,
known only to you and I.
For old friends and lovers
have no need to talk of a howl.
And the where, and the why.
The sky's streets see yellow.
The stars and firelights slowly die.
The weariness from laughter.
The music's flashing, soaring rise.
That swept us to a wondrous world.
And it left us gazing in you
January morning.
Be love most upon my friends,
known only to you and I.
For old friends and lovers
have no need to toss all the how
and the where and so why.
The sky is sweet to yellow,
the stars and fireflies slowly die.
Wearyness and laughter,
the music's flashing, soaring high.
That's what does to a wondrous world,
and left us gazing in you,
January morn.
