And she's meant the world to me
I never saw her take a drink
and she never danced with other men
after she and her husband met.
I never saw her with a fashion catalog
trying to decide what she would wear.
She was never in a beauty salon in her life.
She always combed her own hair.
She was no fanatic about anything,
she never called herself good,
but she often read the Bible
and went to church when she could.
She never complained of her rewards,
though she often gave more than her part.
And I believe that she left this old world
with a full and grateful heart.
In the eyes of the world,
that you would call homie,
plain and old -fashioned. But in the eyes of God,
Now, she wasn't the only lady in her time.
I know there were others.
But I'm mighty thankful to have known
I've known a lady since I was a baby
And she meant the world to me
